Air Source Heat pumps
If eligible, you can install solar panels alongside an air source heat pump to create renewable energy.
Air Source Heat Pumps
In order to apply for an air source heat pump, your current Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be grade E or below. Your home must not run on mains gas; electric, lpg, oil and fossil fuel burners are permitted.
Solar Panels
In order to apply for solar panels as part of the air source heat pump funding, your EPC must be an E or below, and you must have adequate, sturdy roof space suitable to carry the weight and size of the panels.
Eligibility
In order to apply for any heating upgrade, you must qualify via one of three routes; Benefit Recipient, Income below £31,000.00, or NHS Health Referrals. More details can be found on the ECO4 Funding page.

FAQs
-
Unfortunately not, the funding for solar panels comes as part of a package with the air source heat pump to create a renewable energy source. In some cases, internal wall insulation will also be offered as part of the package.
-
Heat pumps can be completed in as little as 2 days, but in some cases, complications can arise depending on the complexity of pipework & radiators needing to be installed. We like to allow up to a week for the install to be complete.
-
Heat Transfer, not generation; Heat pumps transfer warmth from outside air and move it into your home. The process is inherently more efficient than burning fuel to create heat.
They are generally 2-3 times more efficient then traditional heating systems like gas or oil boilers.
They have a COP (Coefficient of Performance) typically ranging from 2 to 4, meaning for each unit of electricity used they can produce 2 to 4 units of heat.
-
Whilst efficiency may decrease slightly during cold months, modern air source heat pumps are designed to operate effectively in sub-zero conditions. They can still extract heat from outside air when temperatures drop to -15°C.
-
Yes, all heat pumps come with a 12 year warranty and solar panels come with a 10 year warranty.
-
Heat pumps must be installed outside with a clearance of 2 meters from any neighboring properties and windows.
